Paroxetine 12.5 mg + Clonazepam 0.5 mg Tablets
RUPATINE-CR PLUS is an increased-strength psychiatric combination tablet with Paroxetine (Controlled Release) 12.5 mg & Clonazepam 0.5 mg produced under Eridanus Healthcare. Unlike RUPATINE-CR LS, RUPATINE-CR PLUS has a doubled strength of Clonazepam (0.5 mg against 0.25 mg), thereby having more potent immediate effects of an anxiolytic and anticonvulsant nature — hence ideal for the treatment of moderate to severe anxiety, panic disorder, frequent attacks or inadequate response to the low-strength combination. The Paroxetine CR 12.5 mg provides sustained SSRI antidepressant and anxiolytic effects.
Available via the Eridanus Healthcare Neuro/Psychiatry PCD Pharma Franchise channel, RUPATINE-CR PLUS is supplied in a 10×10 Alu-Alu blister pack.
Uses and Indications
Prescription uses of RUPATINE-CR PLUS by Psychiatrists include:
- Moderate to Severe Panic Disorder – with more frequent or severe episodes of panic attacks necessitating higher anxiolytic cover
- Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) with somatic anxiety features poorly controlled with low-dose benzodiazepines
- Mixed Anxiety-Depression Disorders with more anxiety symptoms needing higher Clonazepam bridging
- Social Anxiety Disorders with severe anticipatory anxiety prior to social events
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorders with severe anxiety and agitation with need for both SSRI and anxiolytic medication
- Step-up patients from RUPATINE-CR LS because of insufficient anxiolytic effect
- Adjunct therapy in some types of partial seizures where both antidepressant and anticonvulsant actions are required
How do Paroxetine 12.5 mg + Clonazepam 0.5 mg Tablets Work?
The RUPATINE-CR PLUS combination drug exhibits the same dual action principle as in the LS form, but in this case with an increased effect of the benzodiazepine. The inclusion of 0.5 mg Clonazepam leads to an increased effect on GABA-A receptors that causes enhanced anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and sedative action. This is extremely useful in the treatment of acute manifestations of anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and seizures. At the same time, the inclusion of Paroxetine CR 12.5 mg results in a sustained blockage of the serotonin transporters and increases serotonergic tone, which results in sustained improvement of the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Thus, the combination addresses both immediate and pharmacological correction of the problem.
