Amitriptyline +Chlordiazepoxide Works:

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that increases the level of a chemical messenger in the brain that helps in regulating mood and treat depression. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine that works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain.

Risk of side effects with other medications:

The risk of side effects increases by taking Amitriptyline +Chlordiazepoxide with certain medications. Following are some examples of drugs:

• Opioids, like morphine, codeine, hydrocodone, and oxycodone: These drugs with Amitriptyline +Chlordiazepoxide increased side effects like the serious risk of severe drowsiness, Coma, Death, and slowed breathing. Your doctor can prescribe you opioids according to the situation.
• Topiramate: it increases side effects with the combination of amitriptyline/chlordiazepoxide like as, drowsiness, constipation, and dizziness. The doctor prescribed bot drugs with low dosage only.
• Sertraline, paroxetine and fluoxetine: Taking these drugs together raises the risk of side effects like heart attack, confusion and dizziness.
